Solidity/Roughness
Simple designing with raw materials.Behind controversial thoughts and strong emotions there was always a part of me that was seeking for something solid and durable.I found that a state of mind which allows you to create something simple but still magnificent takes more time and effort.I got easily drifted into creating pots with stoneware clay and discovering this raw and untamed material.Through time I managed to understand how I can shape this clay and I created this stoneware series.
My first approach was dinnerware because I felt the idea was so aesthetically pleasing. And the idea was keeping the exterior surface unglazed, raw and clear so the feeling of the clay remains pure and authentic. In order to achieve this aesthetic result I choose to trim a part of the ceramic in order to create a surface even more rough.Stoneware is a combination of clay and minerals and in this case sand which really brings the sense of touch alive.
Glazing simple and bold.I choose monochrome glazes for my stoneware series, because I believe it is the perfect way to designate the simplicity of the design as well as the contrast between the shiny surface of the glazed part and the raw bisque. The movement of a liquid form covering solid stones and silica.
Like salty water crushing into rocks without the sound.Silent and powerful.
